Enduro Himalaya - Great Gig in the sky
.jpg)
The experience - the people - the place
Enduro Himalaya June 08 began in Dehli on 17 June, after a dash around Dehli in a tuctuc we went by overnight coach to Kalka train station to catch the toy train up to Shimla where we had an afternoon reccy on those trusty Royal Enfields....awesome.
The next day the adventure began, 10 days passing and dodging buses, trucks, tucs tucs, cows, dogs, rocks, landslides and people.
Riding the rough with the smooth, mostly rough, high in the sky with no edgy bits.
The terrain and scenery was magestic, the riders a great bunch, the Enduro Team riders and organisers, Doc, the medics, mechanics and support vehicles were fantastic.
Some riders felt the effects of the dietry change, curry hurry was prevalent.
An avalanche and road closure meant a change of route, the ride took us from Shimla to Sarahan, camping at Sangla, and rides taking us to Kalpa, Sohja, Manali, over the Rohtang pass to Jispa, and ultimately to Barralacha at 16tf where we remembered our friend Alan before leaving to overnight at Keylong, before returning to Manali where we had a rest day, did some shopping, enjoyed a roast dinner and collected clean laundry. Our penultimate day was long and hot extended by a landslide and an adrenaline induced ride in the dark to our hotel at Narkanda which was rounded off with Doc entertaining us on guitar, our final day took us to a viewing point enroute to Shimla where we said goodbye to our faithful Enfields...these are only facts the pictures speak a thousand words..please click on the link to view the places and the people who shared this brilliant experience....
There is approx 400 pictures on the smilebox slideshow, click on the bottom left hand corner of the page to bring up arrow you can click to speed up the slide show, turn sound down if you dont like Pink Floyd, Great Gig in the Sky.
